Course Description: An opportunity to build a historical and theoretical vocabulary for the designed environment. This course will include case studies at multiple scales, focusing on North American examples from the relatively recent past.  

 

Estimate of course enrollment: 80 

Estimate of TA Support: 2 TAs x 90 hours each 

Class Schedule: TH 15:00-17:00

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 - December 31, 2026

Salary:                    $9,997.47 (Sessional Lecturer I)

                                $10,699.21 (Sessional Lecturer I Long Term)

                                $10,699.21 (Sessional Lecturer II)

                                $10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer II Long Term)

                                $10,953.96 (Sessional Lecturer III)

                                $11,228.90 (Sessional Lecturer III Long Term)

Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Master of Architecture or Master of Landscape Architecture.  

Preferred Qualifications: We are seeking applicants with a proven record of teaching design at the undergraduate or graduate-level.  

Duties: Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours.
