NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the National Park Service (NPS). These experienced professionals provide administrative expertise, facilities management, natural and cultural resource planning, and a broad array of other professional skills that support the National Park Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in community planning and/or landscape architecture, project management and public engagement. OR BA/BS Degree in Planning/Landscape Architecture

  • Knowledge of outdoor recreation or community planning and design with experience at facilitation, partnership development, community outreach and engagement, project planning and management.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS SharePoint
Duties:

To provide technical planning and design assistance for Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program natural disaster projects in Florida. Travel will be required for site visits and workshops tied to specific projects.

  • The enrollee is a project team member providing technicalplanning and/or landscape design assistance and coordinationon cooperative conservation and outdoor recreation planningprojects working with government agencies, non-profitorganizations, tribes and community groups. Such as but notlimited to: conceptual trail planning, river access, water traildevelopment, park planning/design.   50%
  • The enrollee will assist in organizing and conducting planning/design workshops and events and facilitates meetings both in-person and virtually for audiences with a wide range of subject knowledge and experience. This will include developing and implementing methods for substantively involving the interested public in the planning process, with diverse engagement of community interests.   30%
  • This position will be responsible for preparing written and graphic materials and designs to communicate with public and professional audiences and may include writing, mapping, and graphics. The enrollee will communicate frequently with representatives of public agencies and non-profit organizations in the community and at local, state and national forums.   20%

  • Air travel anticipated: May require infrequent air travel depending on residence of enrollee
  • Required Safety Gear: Personal Protection Equipment related to invasive plant and insects, UV and tick protection. Adherence to COVID Prevention and Best Practices
  • Physical requirements: Enrollee should be able to walk short distances of up to a mile along unimproved surfaces. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
