Job description

As part of Garver’s growing Federal team, this Landscape Architecture Intern will assist in design for planning, urban design, and landscape architecture projects across all Garver business lines. Project types include site planning, bike/pedestrian trails, park and recreation planning and design, site landscape amp; irrigation, and streetscape projects. Typical clients include federal, state, and local agencies across the entire Garver footprint. Our current array of work includes urban design for a mixed-use development in Alabama, airport enhancements in Nashville, streetscapes in Texas, and parks in Wichita. Every day is different, so the opportunity to experience a variety of project types and separate phases of work during the internship is immense.

Internship Description:
  • Work alongside and be mentored by experienced professionals and industry leaders

Requirements
  • Must be pursuing a degree in landscape architecture from an accredited program
  • Detail- oriented and a team player with strong self-initiative to meet deadlines
  • Strong graphic (hand-drawn and digital), written, and oral communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Previous experience working with design software packages such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and LandFX, as well as SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience with Lumion and/ or other rendering software
  • Previous site development experience, including park and recreation or streetscape projects
Work Environment
This is an in-office position; duties and responsibilities are generally performed in an office setting. Occasional travel to offsite locations to perform work and work-related tasks or to attend meetings may be required.
