Job description

Job Title: Senior Survey Technician
Department: Operations
Reports To: Project Manager
Location: Houston, TX
The Senior Survey Technician is an advanced-level position within our surveying team, responsible for performing advanced surveying tasks, and ensuring the accurate and precise execution of survey projects. This role involves a high level of expertise in surveying software, data analysis, and project coordination. This role involves increased responsibility and serves as an important link between entry-level technicians and more senior survey staff.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management and Analysis
  • Lead the transfer, organization, processing, and analysis of field data, working collaboratively with the survey team to maintain the highest data integrity.
  • Coordinate with the project team on the development and review of the field package, field procedures, and general project lifecycle.
  • Utilize advanced software and tools for data processing and analysis.
  • Work closely with Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to learn how to analyze final boundary decisions.

Team Leadership and Mentoring
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced technicians.
  • Assist Survey Technicians I & II in task assignments, work scheduling, and project coordination.

Client Interaction
  • Communicate with clients and project managers, ensuring that project requirements are met, issues are addressed, and project progress is reported accurately.

Qualifications
  • An educational background in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of drafting experience (Easements and Deed Sketching).
  • 5+ years of experience using Civil 3D.
  • Experience working on Oil & Gas projects
  • Strong experience in data processing, including managing field data, performing quality checks, and preparing deliverables.
  • Hands on field experience with surveying equipment and workflows, with the ability to support and coordinate with field crews.
  • Solid experience with boundary surveying, including research, analysis, and preparation of boundary deliverables.

The Senior Survey Technician works in the office, providing technical support and leadership in surveying operations. This role involves data processing and collaboration with survey teams.
