Position Summary

We are seeking a Land Surveying Field Technician with a minimum of 2 years of field survey experience to join our team. This role is responsible for collecting accurate field data, operating survey instrumentation, and supporting crew leads on a variety of project types — from boundary and topographic surveys to ALTA/NSPS and construction staking.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field data collection using GPS/GNSS and robotic total station equipment
  • Assist with boundary retracement, topographic mapping, and construction staking
  • Locate and set property corners, monuments, and control points
  • Maintain accurate field notes and communicate findings clearly to office staff
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment and vehicles safely
  • Work collaboratively with crew members and follow crew lead direction in the field
  • Follow safety protocols on active job sites, including construction and right-of-way work

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a survey field technician or in a related role
  • Working knowledge of survey equipment (GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, data collectors)
  • Familiarity with COGO concepts and basic survey math
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience with Carlson and/or Civil 3D software
  • Exposure to ALTA/NSPS survey standards
  • Enrollment in, or interest in pursuing, a Survey Intern/SIT certification pathway

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • Opportunity for growth within a firm that invests in its people
  • Hands-on experience across a wide range of project types
  • Supportive, team-oriented work environment

Taylor Land Consultants, PLLC is an equal opportunity employer.
