Hello, I'm Simon Mathé, Recruitment Consultant at FED ManuTech.
I am currently recruiting a Power Electronics Technician for a Montreal-based technology company that develops and commercializes next-generation industrial Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). You will join a multidisciplinary R&D team where you will contribute to the development, validation, and industrialization of power electronics products. If you enjoy solving technical challenges, working in a laboratory environment, and helping bring innovative products from development to production, this opportunity is for you.

Mission

As part of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you will contribute to the development and validation of industrial Variable Frequency Drives by supporting laboratory activities, product qualification, and electronic troubleshooting.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Design, assemble, and continuously improve laboratory test benches used for product development and qualification.
-Perform functional, performance, and validation testing on power electronics equipment.
-Troubleshoot and repair electronic systems down to the component level.
-Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, prototype assembly, and hardware modifications.
-Prepare technical documentation, including test reports, validation procedures, and operating instructions.
-Support product certification activities (UL, ETL, or equivalent) and product validation.
-Maintain laboratory equipment, test instruments, and component inventory while ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
-Work closely with the Hardware, R&D, and Validation teams to support products from development through industrialization.

Your profile

Your Profile:
-Diploma (DEC) in Electronics, Industrial Electronics Technology, or a related field.
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronics development or product validation.
-Strong SMT and through-hole soldering skills.
-Solid troubleshooting and electronic circuit analysis experience.
-Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
-Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electronic laboratory equipment.
-Experience preparing technical documentation, test procedures, and validation reports.
-Comfortable working with three-phase electrical systems up to 600 VAC.
-Experience with power electronics, motor control, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), power converters, or inverters is considered a strong asset.
-Knowledge of LabVIEW or Python for test automation is an asset.
-Electrical License C (Journeyman Electrician) is considered an asset.
-Professional English is required; French is considered an asset.
