Description

 Position Summary


This role owns end-to-end manufacturing test strategy and execution for electro-mechanical and electro-optical products in both New Product Introduction (NPI) and product transition environments. The engineer ensures complete test coverage from component through system acceptance, leads the transfer and setup of test assets into manufacturing, and provides hands-on support to production to improve yield, efficiency, and technical accuracy.


Primary Responsibilities


Lead the development, transfer, and installation of test platforms, procedures, and assets into manufacturing for new and legacy products.

Coordinate relocation and sustainment of test capabilities for transitioned and legacy programs across manufacturing sites.

Develop, author, and update Test Specifications, Test Requirements, and Test Procedures. Reverse engineer legacy documentation where required to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Review technical data packages (drawings, procedures, work instructions, test documentation) and close gaps that impact manufacturability and test integrity.

Provide daily production test support including failure analysis, yield improvement, test efficiency, and procedure refinement.

Support manufacturing floor activities including engineering changes, material disposition, and resolution of test and process issues.

Estimate labor and equipment costs and contribute to cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives.

Maintain test assets, equipment readiness, and a safe, compliant working environment.

Ensure quality and accuracy of work while maintaining technical proficiency through ongoing training.



Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

Extensive experience in Test Engineering within manufacturing and NPI environments.

Proven ability to design and deploy test solutions including ATE, TPS, ITA, functional test, and acceptance test platforms.

Strong working knowledge of LabVIEW, TestStand, scripting, data acquisition systems, and electronic test instrumentation.

Hands-on experience integrating and testing hardware, mechanical assemblies, software, wiring harnesses, and COTS components.

Deep understanding of electro-mechanical and electro-optical systems and associated manufacturing/test processes.

Ability to develop and critically review Test Specifications, Requirements, and Procedures.

Experience working with vendors and suppliers for custom and COTS components and test equipment.

Strong troubleshooting capability across electronic, mechanical, and system-level issues.

Working knowledge of AS9100 environments, configuration management, and multi-level BOM structures.

Experience with CAD, PLM, and document control systems.

Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.

Education and Experience

BSEE or equivalent engineering degree required.

6-10 years of Test Engineering experience with electronics, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical products.

Demonstrated ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
