Background
  • This position directly supports the Defense Fuels mission space by enabling reliable, high-speed data acquisition and controls integration across critical fuel infrastructure.
  • The engineer ensures secure, compliant operations where high-speed LabVIEW systems interface with low-speed PLC-controlled platforms to maintain mission-critical readiness.
  • This role provides engineering support across multiple test operations, spanning small benchtop test setups through large-scale industrial test stands.
  • This position requires an active DOE Q clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
Job Description Summary
  • Lead high-speed LabVIEW data acquisition and control system development integrating low-speed PLC-based subsystems.
  • Ensure synchronized communication, data integrity, and reliability across multi-platform control architectures.
  • Support a diverse portfolio of test stands ranging from small-scale component validation rigs to fully integrated large-scale system qualification stands.
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, develop, and maintain LabVIEW applications for high-speed data acquisition and real-time control.
  • Design communication bridges between high-speed LabVIEW systems and low-speed PLC platforms.
  • Collaborate with PLC engineers to align LabVIEW logic with interlocks, alarming, and I/O management.
  • Prepare wiring diagrams, loop sheets, channel maps, and system documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and generate technical reports.
  • Implement software configuration management for LabVIEW, FPGA, and test automation code.
  • Lead automation initiatives using Python, MATLAB, and AI-supported engineering processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide engineering design, troubleshooting, and commissioning support across multiple test stands of varying scale and complexity.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with LabVIEW development and test system integration.
