Job description

Twin Rivers Paper Company, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, is an integrated specialty paper manufacturer producing 400,000 tons of paper per year for the packaging, publishing, label, and technical sectors. Position Summary

Reporting to the E&I Superintendent the E&I Supervisor is responsible for the overall E&I maintenance and supervision of the assigned area at the Madawaska Mill.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs safety audits, conducts safety meetings, incident/accident investigations, safety talks and works closely with safety representatives to improve mill safety.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities as well as spends time on the floor where the incumbent communicates instructions and directives to tradesmen during huddle meetings.
  • Ensures that repairs are scheduled in cooperation with production and works in conjunction with the production group to plan shutdowns and basic care.
  • Evaluates demands and coordinates priorities for the work to be done to ensure best possible support for the operation.
  • Applies MOS in daily activities, supports MOS meetings and ensures direct reports do the same.
  • Deals with a variety of outside service representatives and vendors to ensure adequate costing, delivery and quality of services and works closely with the purchasing department to achieve the best cost and quality for supplies required for the areas under the incumbent’s responsibility.
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, rules, regulations and the collective agreement and implements appropriate measures as required.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to tradesmen while promoting involvement and participation in problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Plans and organizes work for the crew to ensure efficient daily operation of the department.
  • Monitors environmental compliance and takes necessary steps with the crew to avoid violations. This also involves notifying environmental personnel as appropriate.
  • Ensures that tradesmen have proper tools, materials and resources to accomplish tasks efficiently.
  • Ensures that tradesmen have adequate training to support activities of the department and fulfill future manpower requirements.
  • Responsible for motor repairs and inventory of spares.
  • Maintains time and attendance, employee records, performance evaluations and a variety of reports.
  • Communicates new procedures and follows up on employee concerns on various topics such as safety and production.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Is responsible to be on call for maintenance, for a one week period, on a 10 week rotation basis.
  • Shall have responsibility to report problems with the food safety management system to identified person(s). Designated personnel shall have defined responsibility and authority to initiate and record actions.
  • Shall have an awareness of the Food Safety Policy, GMP’s, HACCP principles and Food Safety Standard.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electrical or Instrumentation
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Pulp and Paper or industrial setting
  • Actively supports and promotes safe work practices.
  • Ability to communicate and listen effectively.
  • Strong communication,organization,andinterpersonal relationshipskills.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and have good time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
