LOCATION: Des Moines, IA
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Housby is seeking a skilled Paint Technician to refinish commercial trucks and heavy-duty equipment. This role keeps paint-ready work moving through the booths while protecting safety and first-pass quality.

EXPECTATIONS:
Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Review the daily paint plan and coordinate with the foreman and prep team to keep upcoming booth loads ready.
  • Verify each unit meets Housby's body-to-paint requirements before accepting it into the paint queue.
  • Confirm required parts, components, materials, colors, masking, and repair-plan operations before refinishing.
  • Maintain continuous, sequenced booth flow during the scheduled shift while meeting all safety and quality requirements.
  • Prime, seal, mix, match, apply, blend, and finish coatings using approved equipment and PPG processes.
  • Mask, unmask, sand, buff, clean, and condition metal, fiberglass, vehicles, and components as required.
  • Mix hardeners, sealers, and coatings to the correct formula, color, viscosity, and conditions.
  • Operate, clean, adjust, and maintain spray guns and related paint equipment.
  • Complete all approved paint operations and accurately record labor, materials, and job status.
  • Inspect color match, coverage, gloss, texture, cleanliness, masking, overspray, and completeness before release.
  • Follow all respiratory, hazardous-material, PPE, environmental, and workplace-safety procedures.
  • Maintain at least 95% efficiency and 70% productivity after the established onboarding and training period.
  • Support the daily booth plan and promptly report any condition that could interrupt paint flow.
  • Produce work that meets Housby's first-pass refinishing and paint-to-reassembly acceptance standards.
  • Maintain dependable attendance, punctuality, accurate timekeeping, and an organized work area.
  • Must follow the company's safety rules and policies.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 3 years of professional collision or commercial refinishing experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of PPG paint systems; PPG or OEM certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Ability to prime, mix, match, spray, blend, sand, buff, mask, and deliver professional-quality work.
  • Ability to read repair plans, work independently, manage time, and coordinate with the production team.

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Willing to continue education as directed is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Required use of a properly fitted respirator, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other assigned personal protective equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a commercial refinishing environment.
  • Regular exposure to moving equipment, fumes, airborne particles, coatings, solvents, varying temperatures, and moderate-to-very-loud noise.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required based on business needs.
