Job Description

This role supports a busy metal fabrication shop as a Production Associate, performing a variety of hands-on tasks to process, finish, and prepare steel and sheet metal parts. You work with power and hand tools to grind, drill, sand, bend, separate, and stack components, helping to keep production moving safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grinding, deburring, and sanding operations on metal parts to achieve required finishes and remove sharp edges.
  • Drill holes and perform other basic machining operations on sheet metal and tubing according to simple instructions and work documents.
  • Bend and form metal components using appropriate tools and equipment as directed.
  • Separate, sort, and stack parts in an organized manner to support downstream production and shipping activities.
  • Handle general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the shop.
  • Operate power tools and hand tools safely, including grinders and drills, following all safety guidelines.
  • Assist with packing and preparing parts for inventory, shipment, or further processing.
  • Support basic materials handling activities, which may include forklift use if qualified.
  • Follow simple written instructions and documents to complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and contribute to a safe, efficient production environment.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents and simple written instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work with tools and metal components.
  • Basic problem-solving skills to address routine production and quality issues.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Experience working with sheet metal and tubing (preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment (preferred).
  • Comfort using power tools and hand tools, including grinders and drills.
  • Ability to perform general labor and materials handling tasks.
  • High school diploma.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
