Position Summary:

The Process Technician Helper is responsible for assisting the Process Technician with the operations of all assigned injection and blow molding machines, typically supporting between ten and fifteen machines. This position serves as a developmental role designed to provide hands-on training and experience under the guidance of experienced Process Technicians. The Process Technician Helper is expected to actively learn machine setup, processing techniques, troubleshooting, safety practices, and production requirements to prepare for future advancement into a Process Technician role. The Process Technician Helper is responsible for supporting productivity and quality standards while developing the technical skills necessary to become an independent technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that injection and blow molding machines, molds, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment are set-up properly to meet safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Effectively communicate with managers and coworkers on issues concerning quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Coordinate with the molding labor leadership to ensure full machine and labor utilization.
  • Recommend changes to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Report machine and equipment malfunctions to support personnel.
  • Provide training and guidance to the material handler assigned to the technician’s presses.
  • Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.
  • Ability to learn in house programs for BOM, shop order detail, etc.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance and set up functions to assist in job set ups.
  • Pass a test for LOTO and follow all standard safety procedures involving LOTO.
  • Support and practice all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training in manufacturing, pneumatics, hydraulics, plastics processing, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing or process technician support experience.
  • Knowledge of process controls, equipment startup/shutdown procedures, and mechanical principles such as pressure, heat transfer, vacuum, and gas assist.
  • Demonstrate willingness and aptitude to learn injection and blow molding processes and develop into a full-time Process Technician.
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment (e.g., grinders, conveyors, chillers, scales, dryers) and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety procedures, and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong communication and basic math skills; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Proficient with basic computer applications, including data entry, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Able to troubleshoot, work independently, and follow instructions.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, stooping, and crawling.
  • Willingness to work overtime and in a manufacturing environment with varying conditions, including temperature, noise, and required PPE.

The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position:  $20.40-$22.00 hourly
