What are we looking for?

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products in accordance with ASTM and client-specific methods. This role ensures accurate, timely reporting of results while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.

Shift/Schedule: Rotating shifts :  2,2,3 schedule.  Shift rotates, days to nights.

What you'll do:

  • Perform numerous chemical and physical tests based on American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) methods, or accepted industry standards in multiple testing areas
  • Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting
  • Clean glassware, equipment, and take part in our preventative maintenance schedule
  • Assist with preparing reagents as needed
  • Record data from analysis and report data in to LIMS
  • Assist in maintaining quality records, training records, control charts, and laboratory supply inventories
  • Responsible for complying with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements
  • Participate in cross training

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must demonstrate excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation
  • Must demonstrate ability to multi-task and prioritize workflow
  • Must demonstrate competency with computer systems and a capacity to learn LIMS system
  • Must demonstrate ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures
  • Must demonstrate ability to utilize both complex and non-complex instrumentation
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime as business needs dictate

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • One semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment
  • Previous laboratory work in third party petrochemical environment
  • Prefer proficiency with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word and Excel
