We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician I to support daily laboratory operations in a production-focused testing environment. This role will assist with receiving, preparing, testing, and documenting samples while following established laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.
This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career laboratory professional looking to gain hands-on experience in an analytical laboratory setting.
Location: Houston, TX 77029
Schedule: 2nd Shift | 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM OR 1:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Pay: $20/hour
Type: Contract to hire
Responsibilities
  • Receive, organize, prepare, and test laboratory samples following established procedures.
  • Perform testing and analysis on samples including water and soil.
  • Support laboratory workflows by preparing samples and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Record sample preparation steps and test results in LIMS or batch documentation.
  • Follow SOPs, quality procedures, and laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with inventory tracking and notify the team of supply needs.
  • Communicate any sample issues, equipment concerns, or testing delays.
  • Work independently while managing assigned testing responsibilities.

Laboratory Techniques & Equipment
  • Experience or coursework with analytical instrumentation such asICP/ICP-MS, GC/GC-MS, HPLC, Ion Chromatography (IC), and Mercury Analyzer.
  • Familiarity with laboratory software, data systems, and electronic documentation platforms is a plus.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific field preferred.
  • Open to recent graduates with 0-2 years of laboratory experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Comfortable working with different sample types, including soil, water, chemicals, and other materials.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
