Job description

This description is applicable to Operations & Facilities providing "Best-in-Class" services 
so our Research & Development Team can focus on "putting science to work."
The Operations & Facilities General Service Operator provides general facility support 
services that enable safe, efficient, and reliable operations within SRNL nuclear / nonnuclear facilities. This position performs operational support activities including facility
housekeeping, furniture assembly, material handling, logistics, escort services, minor 
facility maintenance, and operational assistance. The position serves as an entry-level 
career path into Nuclear Operations and provides opportunities for professional 
development toward a Nuclear Production Operator and/or Maintenance Mechanic.

This position is intended as a developmental opportunity for employees interested in pursuing 
careers in Nuclear Operations. Employees may participate in structured training, mentorship, 
and qualification programs to prepare for future advancement into Nuclear Production 
Operator / Maintenance positions.
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Must be able to attain and maintain a DOE L level security clearance
  • US Citizenship required


Preferred Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of operations and facility support experience

Essential Duties
  Facility Services
Perform housekeeping throughout assigned facilities.
Clean work areas, offices, shops, laboratories, and common areas.
Remove trash and recyclable materials.
Maintain orderly storage areas.
Set up conference rooms and meeting spaces.
Assemble and install office furniture, shelving, and workstations.
Assist with office and laboratory moves.
Installation of signs, bulletin boards, and facility postings
Material Handling & Logistics
Deliver supplies, equipment, and materials.
Receive and stage incoming shipments.
Move equipment using carts, pallet jacks, or approved lifting devices.
Stock storage rooms and supply cabinets.
Support warehouse and inventory activities.
Escort Services
Escort subcontractors, vendors, visitors, and non-cleared personnel.
Ensure escorts comply with site security, safety, and radiological requirements.
Coordinate facility access with Operations and Security.
Facility Support
Conduct routine facility walkdowns.
Identify and report facility deficiencies.
Replace light-duty items such as signs, labels, and postings.
Assist maintenance organizations during planned work.
Support outage and project activities.
Set up temporary barriers and work zones.
Operational Assistance
Assist Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Radiological Control 
organizations.
Support emergency response drills.
Perform non-safety-related inspections.
Maintain facility readiness.
Complete assigned work requests
