Job Summary

Southern Company Services is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Analyst I to support environmental testing and laboratory operations. This entry-level role is responsible for preparing and analyzing environmental samples, maintaining laboratory documentation, and supporting compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong science background, attention to detail, and a commitment to laboratory safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare environmental samples for laboratory analysis, including logging, weighing, spiking, and sample preparation.

· Perform laboratory testing using standard analytical techniques and equipment.

· Receive, inspect, log, and process customer samples.

· Prepare sample kits and support shipping and receiving activities.

· Maintain accurate laboratory records and environmental documentation.

· Follow laboratory safety procedures and support environmental compliance initiatives.

· Assist with emergency response procedures for environmental incidents and spills.

· Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely test results.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field (Associate degree also considered).

· Entry-level position (laboratory experience through education or internships is a plus).

· Basic laboratory skills, including pipetting, weighing, measuring volumes, and laboratory safety.
