What is a laboratory internship?

A laboratory internship is a temporary, supervised work experience in a scientific lab setting, designed to provide students or recent graduates with hands-on training and practical exposure to laboratory techniques and procedures. Interns often assist with experiments, data collection, and routine lab maintenance while learning about scientific research methods and safety protocols. These internships help participants gain valuable skills, build professional networks, and explore potential career paths in science and research.

During a Laboratory Internship, you can expect to assist with routine experiments, sample preparation, data entry, and equipment maintenance under the supervision of experienced lab staff. Interns often rotate through different lab areas, gaining exposure to various techniques and instrumentation such as spectrophotometry, chromatography, or microscopy.
