Job description


Welcome to Grayson College. Welding Lab Assistant- Provides technical assistance to students either in a classroom or laboratory setting and assists with teaching students according to established policies and procedures under the supervision of the welding instructor.   
The rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.
 
 Responsibilities :
  • 60%    Provides group instruction and one-on-one tutoring; communicates and explains familiar and new concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of welding skills.
  • 35%    Assists students in the use of equipment.
  • 5%      Keeps the lab clean and organized. 
Performance Measurements: 
  1. Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.
  2. Maintains an effective working relationship with students; serves as a positive role model.
  3. Demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  4. Promotes the educational values of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the computer lab.
  5. Maintains the confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  6. Complies with all laws and regulations related to higher education.

Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • One year work experience as a welder or welding degree/certificate required.
  • Previous experience as a teacher or lab assistant is preferred.
