Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing materials testing and documentation across Asphalt, Soils, and Concrete disciplines in support of FDOT-compliant construction projects. This hands-on role works closely with field inspectors, project engineers, and plant personnel to ensure material quality and specification compliance. This position offers a clear pathway to grow into an Asphalt Plant Inspector role for motivated individuals.
Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Perform standardized laboratory and field tests on soils, and concrete materials in accordance with FDOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards.
โ€ข Accurately document test results.
โ€ข Maintain, calibrate, and inspect laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
โ€ข Enter test data into laboratory Information management software.
โ€ข Identify and report any deviations, non-conformances, or quality concerns.
โ€ข Adhere to safety protocols and environmental compliance requirements.

โ€ข Ability to perform basic math calculations

โ€ข Basic knowledge of FDOT, AASHTO, and ASTM testing standards is a plus.
โ€ข Valid driver's license required
Physical Requirements
โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
โ€ข Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods in outdoor environments.
