Position OverviewThompson Engineering is seeking a Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Inspector to join our Quality Acceptance Team on the West Alabama Highway Design-Build Project.This large-scale, progressive design-build project involves widening Highways 43 and 69 from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway, along with the addition of new bypasses spanning a 74-mile route from Thomasville to Tuscaloosa, Alabama.The project scope includes:Construction of 23 new bridgesDrainage and utility relocationLand clearing and grubbingInstallation of 100+ box culvertsDivision into 13 segments, each averaging 5.7 miles in lengthThe CEI Inspector will report directly to the Project Manager and may oversee one or multiple project segments.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform field inspections, observations, and materials testing to ensure contractor compliance with project plans, specifications, and technical provisions.Maintain accurate and detailed reports of construction activities.Identify and report nonconformances in contractor work to the Project Manager.Represent Thompson Engineering in a professional manner when interacting with clients, partner firms, and contractors.Consistently apply and promote safety standards in all field activities.Skills & QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent (required)Roadway construction or survey experience preferredValid driver's licenseAbility to work outdoors in varying field conditionsAbout Thompson EngineeringFounded in 1953, Thompson Engineering provides quality assurance and professional services for construction projects supporting industrial, infrastructure, and community development.
