Job description

Reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is accountable for strategic leadership of the laboratory. Oversees a wide variety of administrative, fiscal, and technical activities to ensure the efficient operation of the clinical laboratory and compliance with corporate policies. Responsible for the quality control program, quality assurance, and the point of care testing programs within the clinical laboratory. Plans, organizes, directs,controls, and evaluates the work of the clinical laboratory and co-ordinates it with other areas of the hospital. Responsible for all personnel including hiring, discipline, conflict resolution, staff development, evaluation, payroll. Assures the laboratory meets all regulatory requirements (CAP, AABB, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.)

Education:  BS degree from an accredited college or university required.  Degree must be in Medical Laboratory Science or one of the biological or chemical sciences.  Laboratory training through an accredited laboratory school required.  MS degree preferred. Experience:  Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical experience and demonstrated management experience required. Licenses/Certificates:  MT(ASCP) or equivalent required.
