Job description

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Under supervision, performs pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of all testing with speed and accuracy as authorized under California State Business and Professions Code. Analyzes test results in accordance with the patient population (e.g., pediatric, neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients). Reviews and reports test results to the appropriate provider or location. Maintains quality control, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance according to department policy. Successfully interacts with all laboratory computer systems. Maintains yearly state-determined educational requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and record instrument preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Document daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance procedures as determined by department protocol.
  • Perform and record quality control results as determined by established protocol.
  • Verify all requirements of test samples, including labeling accuracy and/or tube containers prior to testing.
  • Perform all test procedures as outlined in the department's procedure manual.
  • Crosscheck results for appropriate correlations and report testing results with accuracy.
  • Record all information required on department log sheets, worksheets, printouts, and file cards, etc.
  • Utilize computer systems to enter and report data.
  • Perform proficiency testing, inter-laboratory tests, and competency assessments as required.
  • Complete special assignments in a timely manner with desired results.
  • Complete procedures during assigned work shift, utilizing time productively.
Essential Skills
  • Test sampling and laboratory testing
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in a hospital setting
  • Open availability
  • Troubleshoot analyzers
  • Knowledge of QC rules
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in California
  • Experience on all benches, including blood bank
  • Ability to work graveyard shift and weekends
Work Environment

You will be working at the main lab during the graveyard shift from 10:30 pm to 7:00 am. You will have every Friday off with rotating weekends. This position requires flexibility with shift availability, preferably for PM shift and overnight shift, and possibly AM shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
