Lieu : Saint-Laurent, QC

Description du poste
Notre client est à la recherche d’un(e) Analyste de laboratoire (amiante) pour son site de Saint-Laurent, Québec.
Aucune expérience en laboratoire commercial n’est requise. L’organisation recherche une personne motivée souhaitant développer des compétences techniques et maîtriser les pratiques et procédures de laboratoire courantes. Une formation complète sera offerte en cours d’emploi.
Le poste est entièrement axé sur l’analyse d’amiante en environnement de laboratoire.
Responsabilités principales
• Préparer et analyser des matériaux en vrac et solides pour la teneur en amiante à l’aide de la microscopie à lumière polarisée (PLM) et de la microscopie à contraste de phase (PCM)
• Déterminer le pourcentage visuel et les propriétés optiques des matériaux amiantés et non amiantés
• Appliquer les procédures de contrôle de qualité conformément au manuel d’assurance qualité/contrôle qualité
• Générer des rapports analytiques et saisir les données dans le système LIMS
• Nettoyer, entretenir et dépanner l’équipement de laboratoire au besoin
• Effectuer certaines tâches administratives : entrée d’échantillons, saisie de données, numérisation et envoi de rapports, réponse aux appels
• Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe demandée par la direction
Exigences
• Diplôme d’études collégiales (2 ans) en géologie ou discipline scientifique connexe (obligatoire)
• Formation en microscopie optique, minéralogie optique ou microscope pétrographique (atout)
• Expérience en laboratoire académique ou commercial (atout)
• 0 à 1 an d’expérience en analyse PLM/PCM de l’amiante (atout)
• Bilinguisme français et anglais requis
• Capacité à distinguer les couleurs pour effectuer les analyses
• Capacité à travailler de façon autonome et en équipe
• Excellente gestion du temps et sens de l’organisation
• Disponibilité pour voyager pour une formation dans un autre site au Canada ou aux États-Unis
Laboratory Analyst – Asbestos
Location: Saint-Laurent, QC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Compensation: $22 per hour
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) to join their team in Saint-Laurent, Quebec.
No prior commercial laboratory experience is required. The organization is open to candidates who demonstrate a strong interest in developing technical laboratory skills and becoming proficient in standard laboratory practices and procedures. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
This role focuses exclusively on asbestos analysis within a structured laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) and PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy)
• Determine visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos materials
• Perform ancillary quality control procedures in accordance with internal QA/QC standards
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system
• Maintain, clean, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as required
• Perform quality control practices in accordance with the company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Support administrative duties including sample login, data entry, scanning, emailing reports, and answering phones
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
• Two-year diploma in Geology or a related scientific discipline (required)
• Training in light microscopy, optical mineralogy, or petrographic microscopy (preferred)
• Academic or commercial laboratory experience is an asset
• 0–1 year of experience performing asbestos PLM/PCM analysis (preferred but not required)
• Ability to distinguish colors accurately for analytical purposes
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
• Ability to travel for training to another company location in Canada or the United States
