Job description

Arts & Science is seeking a talented Laboratory Assistant (Receiving) to join the Department of Biology. This individual will deliver and/or distribute supplies and equipment to laboratories, following appropriate safety protocol. Set up, take down, prepare, monitor, and store supplies and equipment, as necessary. Provide assistance with maintenance of equipment and/or request repairs, as necessary. Receive, unload, unpack, inspect, and inventory supply and equipment deliveries, including hazardous, radioactive, infectious, and other scientific materials. Reinforce and adhere to safety and safeguarding protocols and maintain cleanliness of laboratories and workspaces.


Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
1+ years One year experience in a shipping/receiving or stockroom area. Familiarity with spreadsheet, database and on-line tracking systems.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Individual must be able to physically move and/or lift heavy items.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity or ability to become familiar with scientific and safety standards, and hazardous materials handling protocol through training.
