Job description

Position Description: Empirico, a biotechnology company that combines unmatched expertise in human genetics-driven target discovery with world-class capabilities in siRNA drug discovery is looking for a laboratory assistant to help with routine chemistry laboratory operations. The successful applicant for this part-time, temporary position is expected to work approximately 10-15 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours depending on availability and need. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working at a highly-innovative biotechnology company together with experienced scientists that have a passion for finding novel approaches toward the treatment and prevention of disease.
Responsibilities:
  • Ordering and receiving of reagents and supplies
  • Laboratory inventory management
  • General laboratory housekeeping including dishwashing
  • Solution and buffer preparation
  • Performing laboratory procedures (for which training will be provided) using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution
  • Enrolled in chemistry laboratory classes (experience performing routine laboratory assays and reagent preparation is a plus)
  • Applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S.
The estimated hourly rate for this role is $12.00 to $18.00 per hour. Individual compensation decisions will be based on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
