Job description

We are currently looking for a dependable Grinding Operator to join our team!
The Grinding Operator plays a key role in our recycling and production efficiency by performing all tasks involved in grinding scrap material. The ideal candidate follows standard work methods, practices safe habits, and contributes to a lean, efficient, and positive workplace.
  • Scrap Processing: Efficiently process and grind scrap material according to standard operating procedures.
  • Labeling & Inventory: Accurately identify and tag all regrind barrels and gaylords.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Safely open, clean, and assist in basic maintenance of grinding machinery.
  • Material Handling: Drive a forklift to transport materials and fulfill duties within the grinding department.
  • Scale Operation: Utilize warehouse scales to accurately weigh gaylords and maintain precise records.
  • Housekeeping & 5S: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace by following daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of teamwork, safety, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred (not required).
  • Valid Forklift License / certification (or ability to obtain/recertify).
  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and communication skills.
  • Experience using warehouse scales to weigh shipments/gaylords.

Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Background in 5S, Lean Manufacturing, or Kanban environments.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Lifting: Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Stamina: Ability to stand in one place and perform repetitive physical movements for an entire shift.
  • Environment: Moderate noise level. Must be able to withstand occasional odors typical of plastic processing or purging compounds.
  • Safety First: Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)-including safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes-must be worn at all times on the production floor.
