Job description

Basic Function:
This position is responsible for providing a high level of attention to detail in printing, converting and quality checking all products moving through the production floor. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating laser converting machines, industrial printers, and, at times, assisting in final checks and finishing as part of producing our durable labels. We have demanding standards and so do our customers. All WIP (work in process) needs to be processed in compliance with the customers standards and to DuraMark's level of Quality. Machine Operators must always strive to operate the machine in the most efficient manner while reducing waste. They are also responsible for maintenance and upkeep of the machine with the aid of the engineering team. This is a hands-on role that includes minor lifting, being on your feet throughout the day, continuous adjustments, and raw material management. The role is a key part to our production team and will work closely with the QC/Finishing team.

Objective and Overview:
  • Operate with lean concepts in mind (specifically, always looking for waste in our processes)
  • Actively participate in EOS L-10 meetings
  • Print and/or convert labels according to the production schedule in the ERP system (NetSuite)
  • Organize labels by order and due date
  • Scan out raw materials as consumed
  • Maintain machine cleanliness and organization
  • Prioritize all daily activities based on production need
  • Follow all guidelines and procedures set within the production department

Role Requirements:
Education:
High school graduate or GED
Experience:
1 to 3 years experience in a production environment. Experience should include mixed production processes in a low volume, high product mix operation. Background in Kanban is a plus.
