About the Role. As a Field Service Technician, you will perform repairs, maintenance and installs on packaging equipment at customer sites. This position has a high level of customer interaction and requires professionalism and excellent communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and installation start up on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealers, and label printer/applicators, strapping equipment and related products at customer sites.
  • Perform setup calibration, testing, trouble shooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies using moderately complex blue prints and electrical schematics
  • Perform electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and electro-mechanical tests, repair and maintenance on equipment and parts to ensure the equipment functions according to the manufacturer specifications and/or to determine the cause of equipment failure
  • Complete field service work orders, including billing of travel, labor hours, parts and other related items in a timely and accurate manner
  • Perform product demonstrations and training as needed
  • Perform housekeeping tasks and maintain the required quantity of personal hand tools
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by management
  • Some overnight travel

Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to work well with internal and external customers, including suppliers, co-workers and management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to understand and follow processes on using all available resources to solve problems
  • Able to use a multi meter in a troubleshooting application
  • Strong knowledge of all repair tools and the ability to demonstrate the use of repair tools in their proper application
  • Basic understanding of pneumatic controls and valves
  • Able to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues and develop efficient solutions to resolve problems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and other systems/applications as required

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 2 years performing repairs and maintenance on packaging equipment or related machinery
  • Must posess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation
  • 2+ years working in a customer focused / customer support organization
  • Customer service training and/or related experience
  • Highly prefer certifications from manufacturers on stretch wrappers, shrink wrappers, case sealers, case erectors, label printers and strapping equipment
  • Self-motivated, team oriented individual with the ability to develop and retain business for the service department
