The Anatomy Prosector and Surgical Lab Workshop Coordinator supports faculty in the preparation and delivery of anatomical sciences at the graduate and postgraduate levels and assists in coordinating weekend workshops for Continuing Medical Education.
The salary range for this position is $53,000-$58,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Anatomy Prosector for the Anatomy Program in the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM).
  • Serve as Surgical Workshop Coordinator for Continuing Medical Education courses scheduled through the Anatomy section of the COM Biomedical Sciences Department (primarily weekend workshops).
  • Participate in the delivery of the Anatomy for Musculoskeletal Medicine Residency Workshop at the University of New England and Maine Medical Center.
  • Assist with maintaining the Anatomical Donor Program, including fresh tissue procurement and Thiel embalming.
  • Perform prosection of anatomical specimens for the body donor laboratory, photographic documentation, and workshops.
  • Attend weekly anatomy discipline planning meetings.
  • Operate and maintain the C-arm fluoroscope for workshop and classroom activities.
  • Attend anatomy laboratory class sessions for the Osteopathic Clinical Skills (OCS) course and weekly course meetings as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Assist in the construction, delivery, photography, and grading of the OCS Donor Exam.
  • Lead small groups of students in the dissection of anatomical specimens.
  • Provide remediation support for medical students in the anatomical sciences as needed.
  • Assist in research activities conducted in the anatomy laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a biomedical science discipline with anatomy laboratory experience, or a combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge and skills.
  • Prior experience in anatomical dissection or instruction.
  • Understanding of radiographic imaging is preferred.
  • Knowledge of, or experience using, Adobe programs for image management is helpful.
  • Experience maintaining scientific records suitable to support publications and patent applications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in laboratory management, including but not limited to writing standard operating procedures, maintaining work schedules, ordering supplies, and managing inventories, is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to assess situations, anticipate alternate outcomes, and prepare appropriate responses.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate self-motivation, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a careful approach to all tasks.
