Job description

St. Joseph Health has been caring for the communities in and surrounding the Brazos Valley since 1936 (Bryan/College Station, Navasota, Caldwell, Madisonville (TX)). St. Joseph has a Level III Trauma Center, the first Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center and the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the Brazos Valley. 

St. Joseph Health is a leader in critical care and the largest provider of cardiovascular care in the region. As an integrated healthcare system St. Joseph Health includes a comprehensive network of over 100 employed providers including primary care physicians specialists and advanced practice clinicians. The network includes more than 30 ambulatory clinics featuring Primary Care, Express Clinics and Imaging and Diagnostic Services.


As our Cath Lab Tech, you will help deliver excellent patient care by performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease in the cath lab setting.
Every day you’ll independently operate all ancillary equipment in the lab including but not limited to: IVUS, pressure wire, rotablator, IMPELLA, atherectomy devices, laser and angiojet. You will demonstrate competencies in scrubbing techniques of all diagnostic and interventional procedures, utilize good radiation safety practices and you will make a positive impact on internal and external customers.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to fully understand the importance of diagnostic imaging. This includes knowledge of the general imaging workflow, various patient positioning techniques, and capturing clear results for timely and accurate diagnosis.

  • Exhibits and shares knowledge of policies and procedures. Acts as mentor and preceptor to new technologists.
  • Knowledgeable and demonstrated competency of diagnostic procedures.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated competency in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath, peripheral, neuro, and EP procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in the performance of Electrophysiological studies.
  • Knowledgeable in the operation of Physiological Monitoring systems for diagnostic, interventional studies. Accurately enters and records pertinent patient data, documents events, and calculates valve areas.
  • Measure and document pressure recordings.

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • One (1) year of experience in healthcare
  • BLS from the American Heart Association(AHA) within 14 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • One of the following:
    • Registered Cardiac Electr (RCES) within two (2) years of hire
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) within two (2) years of hire
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) within two (2) years of hire
    • Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT) within two (2) years of hire

Preferred:

  • Two (2) years of CCL experience
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner: TX (RCP)
  • Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic: TX (EMT-P)
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse: TX (LVN)
