Job description

Gessner Engineering's Lab Technicians perform tests on soils, concrete, and asphalt in the lab. Clients request our testing services to serve as quality control for certain aspects of their projects. The tests Lab Technicians perform verify if materials meet specifications. We are looking for someone to work Part-Time, 20-30hrs/week, on site in Brenham, TX.


Duties & Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
  • Laboratory testing of soils, aggregate and asphalt
  • Prepare daily reports and documentation of field activities in electronic format
  • Maintain a clean work area: pick up and clean all tools and equipment
  • Perform materials handling and storage
  • Load and unload trucks, haul and hoist materials
  • Ensure that proper personal protective equipment is worn on all job sites. Brings problems to the attention of your manager or HR manager.
  • Possess the ability to fluently read and understand procedures
  • Safely operate Gessner Engineering vehicles on the road and within job sites
  • Maintain company equipment and vehicles in line with proper use, maintenance, and safety guidelines
  • Perform logging and packaging of soil samples

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Licensure/Certifications
    • Preferred - one or more of the following
      • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification
      • ACI Concrete Strength Testing
      • ACI Aggregate Testing
      • SB 101 โ€“ Materials Properties
      • SB 102 โ€“ Field Specialist
      • SB 201 โ€“ Moisture-Density Specialist
  • Experience/Skills
    • Verbal and written communication skills
    • Physical strength, stamina, and dexterity to lift and move 70 lbs., stoop, bend and stand throughout the course of up to a 12-hour workday
