Job description

Are you detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about playing a vital role behind the scenes in patient care? Boone Memorial Hospital is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our laboratory team and help deliver accurate, timely results that directly impact patient outcomes.
Essential Functions
As an MLT, you will:
  • Collect, label, and process laboratory specimens (venipuncture, finger stick, arterial draws)
  • Perform routine and specialized lab testing across multiple areas.
  • Conduct arterial blood gas collections and EKGs as needed
  • Ensure quality control standards are consistently met
  • Troubleshoot testing discrepancies and equipment issues
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance and calibration
  • Assist with inventory management and lab organization
  • Support training of new staff and students
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (or equivalent)
  • Active West Virginia MLT license
  • ASCP (or equivalent) certification
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols
  • Ability to operate laboratory instruments and interpret results accurately
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for specimen collection and lab procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Strong visual and auditory acuity
