Test Lab Engineer

Automation Personnel Services is looking for a Test Lab Engineer that is responsible for designing, building, and performing complex mechanical testing in support of product development, validation, certification, and continuous improvement activities. This role works closely with Product Engineers and Project Engineers to develop test fixtures, execute test plans, analyze results, and ensure products meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Lab Technician Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design complex mechanical tests as required by section manager.
  • Build or supervise the building of complex mechanical test fixtures and equipment as required by product and project engineers.
  • To instruct technicians to assist in the aforementioned work as required by section manager.
  • Provide concise and logical reports of test work together with photographs if required.
  • Provide analytical data using analyzers, computers and other equipment.
  • Investigate manufacturing problems.
  • Investigate field return problems.
  • To aid in the selection and purchase of major equipment as required by the laboratory.
  • To assist and aid manufacturing in the resolution of problems arising during day-to-day operation.
Lab Technician Qualifications and Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Five years as a mechanical test engineer, 2 years of which should be associated with power tools or small electromechanical mechanisms.
  • Computer Literate.
Physical Demands:
Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and use of hands and tools, with occasional lifting of up to 65 pounds. Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and tolerate occasional exposure to noise, chemicals, and other workplace hazards. Flexible hours may be required.
Work Environment & Travel:
Work is performed primarily in a laboratory and warehouse environment using electronic measuring equipment, hand tools, and power tools, with occasional work in a fast-paced office setting. The role may involve exposure to moderate noise and requires regular use of standard office equipment. Some travel may be required.
