Job Description Laboratory Technician- Decatur, ILThis is a non-exempt level positionJob SummaryThe Lab Technician is accountable for ensuring the integrity of our product in the manufacturing process and through release. This position will require the ability to utilize standardized techniques and operating procedures in order to conduct and analyze tests on sensitive samples. This role is a critical member of the Quality Team promoting Quality and Food Safety Culture.Essential Job FunctionsExemplify the ADM core values in daily activities: Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Resourceful, Teamwork, and Responsibility.Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and HACCP requirements.Pass all required laboratory training.Follow established SOPs accurately and efficiently.Recording, interpreting, and entering test results in specified forms and LIMS software with accuracy and responsibility.Perform all applicable analytical and sensory tests on in-process and finished products in a precise and timely manner.Determine and recognize inconsistencies in the data and report to necessary personnel in a timely manner including escalation.Receive, handle, and store samples appropriately according to SOP.Maintain all laboratory equipment and be able to troubleshoot any problems, taking corrective action when necessary and maintaining records.Handle, organize and store all chemical substances, fluids and compressed gases in the manner outlined in the Safety Data Sheet provided by the manufacturerWork alone and in teams across all departments.Complete verifications in testing, standards, equipment, and instruments to ensure accurate performance.Participate in proficiency/collaborative testing.Communicate with other departments as necessary (in person, radio, email and telephone).Willingness to assume additional and new responsibilities.Perform routine tasks with minimal supervision.Create and maintain a neat, clean and well-organized and professional-looking work area.Train colleagues.Perform all duties in a manner consistent with environmental, health and safety policies and objectives.Other assigned tasks and responsibilities as needed/directed by manager.
