Job description

About the Role:
The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional peripheral vascular procedures in an outpatient office-based laboratory (OBL). This role requires advanced clinical judgment, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to function in multiple procedural roles including pre-procedure assessment, moderate sedation, circulating, recovery, and emergency response. The RN works collaboratively with physician and the interdisciplinary team to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.  If you thrive in a fast-paced specialty setting and are committed to delivering exceptional patient care, we want to hear from you!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care
  •  Perform comprehensive nursing assessments before, during, and after procedures. 
  •  Prepare patients for diagnostic and interventional procedures. 
  •  Verify patient identity, procedure, allergies, consent, and required documentation. 
  •  Establish and maintain IV access. 
  •  Administer medications as ordered. 
  •  Monitor patient condition throughout all phases of care. 
  •  Provide patient and family education before discharge. 
  •  Document all patient care accurately within the electronic medical record. 
Procedural Responsibilities
  •  Circulate diagnostic and interventional vascular procedures. 
  •  Administer and monitor moderate (conscious) sedation according to physician orders and facility policy. 
  •  Continuously monitor cardiac rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiratory status, and patient comfort. 
  •  Assist physicians with sterile procedures. 
  •  Prepare procedure rooms and required equipment. 
  •  Maintain procedural sterility and infection prevention standards. 
  •  Assist during emergency situations including cardiac arrest, airway compromise, and vascular complications. 
Recovery Care
  •  Monitor patients following procedures. 
  •  Perform vascular access site assessments. 
  •  Manage sheath removal and achieve hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices when applicable. 
  •  Recognize and respond to post-procedure complications. 
  •  Complete discharge instructions and ensure discharge criteria are met. 
Quality & Safety
  •  Adhere to all OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety standards. 
  •  Participate in quality improvement initiatives. 
  •  Maintain emergency equipment and medication readiness. 
  •  Report adverse events and safety concerns promptly. 
  •  Participate in mock codes and emergency preparedness activities. 
Inventory & Equipment
  •  Assist with stocking procedure rooms. 
  •  Monitor supply levels. 
  •  Report equipment malfunctions. 
  •  Assist with inventory management and expiration date monitoring. 
Team Collaboration
  •  Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, radiologic technologists, and support staff. 
  •  Assist in orienting new employees. 
  •  Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members. 
  •  Participate in staff meetings and continuing education. 

Requirements:
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) from an accredited program
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Prior experience in cardiovascular, vascular, or specialty nursing preferred
  • Previous Cath Lab, ICU, Emergency Department, PACU, or Critical Care experience 
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills
  • Compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  •  Ability to administer moderate sedation.
