Job description

PT - AccessABILITY Resource Services Accommodation
Assistant/AT Lab Aide
Salary: $15.15 per hour.
Summary of Function: Assists students with accommodations in the classroom, testing center, library, and other college services. Monitors AT Lab and assists students with disabilities in using assistive technology and college computer portal.
Typical Duties:
  • Serves students. Assists students with accommodations in the classroom, testing center, library, and other college services with type of assistance and assignment dependent on ARS coordinator approval.
  • Monitors Assistive Technology Lab traffic, documents lab usage, answers phones, monitors bulletin boards, keeps work area clean.
  • Trains students in assistive equipment, assists in accommodating students as scribes and/or readers, and converts text documents into an accessible format.
  • Tutors students in subjects assigned.
  • Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives, and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of English 101 and demonstration of a strong understanding of English language structure and composition methods

OR
  • Completion of MAT 220 with a grade of B or higher

Classification:
  • Non-Exempt

Position Type & Work Schedule:
  • Part-time
  • Up to 19 hours per week
  • Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
  • Knowledge of tutoring strategies and learning support techniques
  • Knowledge of English language conventions and structure
  • Knowledge of advanced college-level mathematics
  • Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operations

  • Must be able to perform duties in a variety of weather conditions

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
