Job description

Cath Lab Technologist

The Cath Lab Technologist performs specialized cardiovascular imaging and interventional procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular conditions. This role requires strong clinical expertise, familiarity with Cath Lab equipment, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast paced hospital environment. The tech will support procedures at Abrazo West Campus and must be ready to start immediately.

Key Responsibilities

Procedures & Technical Duties

  • Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterizations, angiograms, angioplasties, and other interventional procedures.
  • Operate imaging and monitoring equipment, including fluoroscopy systems and hemodynamic monitors.
  • Ensure accurate imaging capture, instrument handling, and sterile technique.
  • Prepare and set up procedural rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.

Patient Care & Support

  • Prepare patients for procedures, including verification of history, allergies, and consent.
  • Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and comfort during procedures.
  • Administer contrast agents and assist with medication preparation as permitted by scope.
  • Provide postprocedure care support and patient education when needed.

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other Cath Lab team members to ensure smooth procedural flow.
  • Participate in daily huddles, case reviews, and coordination of scheduled and addon procedures.
  • Support on call or emergent procedures as required by the department.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to radiation safety standards, sterile protocol, and hospital regulations.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, organization, and readiness for upcoming cases.
  • Accurately document all procedures and patient data in the EMR.
  • Follow HIPAA and patient privacy guidelines at all times.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of recent Cath Lab experience (hospital preferred).
  • ARRT, RCIS, or RCES certification (depending on state and facility requirements).
  • Active state license or eligibility (if applicable).
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Strong knowledge of interventional cardiology procedures, equipment, and sterile technique.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with high acuity, trauma, or fast paced hospital Cath Lab environments.
  • Proficiency with hemodynamic monitoring systems.
  • Ability to assist in both diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
Work Environment
  • Hospital-based cardiovascular/interventional suite at Abrazo West Campus.
  • Fast paced, high acuity setting with emergency and scheduled procedures.
  • Requires standing for long periods, lifting equipment, and assisting in patient transfers.
  • 4x10 day shifts with potential for on call depending on department needs.
