Concordia University is needing a Chemistry Adjunct Instructor who wants to be a part of this mission. The main campus (and this role) is located in Seward, Nebraska. Position Description: Concordia University, Nebraska is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor to teach in-person courses in Chemistry on our campus in Seward, NE. A variety of courses are available. Classes will be taught face-to-face; some night classes are available, but we prefer to schedule classes during the regular school day. Must be at least 19 years of age to apply.
Job Duties:
  • Teach laboratory sections in introductory, general, and/or organic chemistry based on the needs of the department. Select lecture sections in introductory and/or general chemistry may also be available.
  • In collaboration with the department chair, maintain the integrity of the curriculum.
  • Facilitate the course content in accordance with the stated objectives.
  • Maintain high standards of excellence in face-to-face formats.
  • Serve as a role model for students in professional interactions.
  • Facilitate individual and group learning goals.
  • Demonstrate competency of theoretical knowledge in area(s) of expertise.
  • Use appropriate teaching models to enhance student learning.
  • Assess, evaluate, and monitor student progress.
  • Provide timely feedback to students.
  • Record and maintain accurate class records.
  • Participate in course content meetings as available.
  • Provide the department chair with on-going data related to student performance.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with a practicing professional.

Qualifications:
  • Possess ability to establish working relationships with students, peers, faculty members, the administrative team, and the community.
  • Successful and innovative teaching experience.
  • Ability to use technology to support all aspects of teaching.
  • A candidate who is an active Christian is required. Preference may be given to members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Education and Experience:
  • Earned master's degree in chemistry or a closely related field.
  • College-level teaching experience preferred.
  • Professional experience in subject area preferred.

Time Commitment:
  • Courses will be taught during the Fall 2025 and/or Spring 2026 semesters. Contract may be renewed for future academic years/terms.
  • Lab sections meet once a week for either 1 or 3 hours. Lecture sections meet 2-3 times per week.
  • Additional time per week for class and lab preparation, grading, and student questions is expected.
