Your new position
As IT Lab Systems Engineer, the position serves as the primary IT resource for Zealand Pharma's laboratory environment in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The role acts as a key interface between Research labs and the global IT organization, ensuring lab systems are sourced, implemented, supported, and continuously improved. With a strong focus on data security, compliance, and user experience, the position helps research teams stay productive while protecting critical data and systems.

We offer exciting responsibilities:

  • Act as the key interface between Research labs and the IT organization, ensuring alignment on priorities and solutions
  • Oversee sourcing, installation, configuration, and maintenance of lab IT systems (hardware and software) in collaboration with Research and IT (Infrastructure & Security)
  • Develop, together with Research, Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security, robust approaches for data retention, data security, and data restoration per system
  • Establish performance monitoring approaches with Infrastructure and implement improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency
  • Manage and document lab IT asset inventory and plan future lab IT needs together with Research
  • Own vendor management for lab systems, including coordination, follow-up, and service quality

Your profile
The ideal candidate is service-minded and structured, with the ability to translate lab needs into practical, secure IT solutions. Success in the role requires strong collaboration skills across Research and IT, clear communication, and a hands-on approach to problem solving. The lab environment is dynamic, and the role benefits from comfort with ambiguity, prioritization, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong knowledge of lab IT systems (hardware and software) and end-to-end system lifecycle management
  • Experience managing and securing large volumes of data, ensuring integrity, retention, and recoverability
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity risks and controls relevant to laboratory IT environments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage IT projects (e.g., upgrades, implementations), delivering on time and within scope
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve incidents efficiently, with strong documentation practices for systems and processes
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows environments and enterprise tooling (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune), networking basics, and patching (a plus)

The position is part of the global IT organization and is the primary IT resource for the lab environment in Cambridge. Close collaboration with Research teams is central, with additional partnering across Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security functions to deliver stable, compliant, and secure lab IT services. The role reports to the Senior Director, Head of US IT.
