Short Summary:
The Cardiac Catheterization Radiology Technologist delivers patient care in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, under the direction and supervision of the Manager and Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. Functions as a cardiovascular radiological technologist and patient caregiver for adult and geriatric patients. Promotes quality care for patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular and peripheral procedures. Develops various types of film. Records and analyzes all types of hemodynamic waveform tracings. Prepares the lab for all procedures. Maintains quality control of equipment and procedures. Reports functional deficiencies. The role comes with 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday - Friday.
Job Requirements:
  • Operates all radiographic equipment in the cardia Cath lab, such image digital acquisition equipment.
  • Identifies and solves problems with above equipment and knows resources used in solving problems.
  • Assists Cardiologist in the performance of invasive procedures such as scrubbing, equipment utilization and hemodynamic computation.
  • Foster the professional development of unit staff through support of the orientation process and other educational activities.
  • Participates in maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment as assigned by supervisor through in-house requisitions or purchase order requests using cost effective measures.
  • Functions as Radiology safety person for the cardiac Cath lab. Changes film badges every two weeks.
  • Assists the manager with monitoring film badge usage. Reinforces radiation safety to all Cath Lab personnel with regards to proper distance, shielding.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology required
  • Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist
  • Current license in the State of Illinois of Nuclear Safety required
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS Health Care Provider (required)
  • Experience in Intra-aortic balloon counter pulsation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic life threatening arrhythmia’s preferred
  • 3 years of experience in in cardiac catheterization laboratory (preferred)
