Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares patients before drawing blood.

  • Explainsblood drawprocedures to patients and answers questions about the process.

  • Verifies patient information and labels blood samples properly.

  • Accurately updates patient information in the organization's database.

  • Helps nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws.

  • Draws or receives, labels, and safely stores samples to be tested.

  • Determinesand performs tests needed for the analysis and report.

  • Records tests and analyses and then reports the results.

  • Discusses and answers any questionsregardingresults with patients.

  • Organizes and stores samplesin accordance withall safety and other requirements to ensure the safety of personnel and integrity of the sample.

  • Cleans andmaintainslab equipment, including recalibration of equipment.

  • Maintains equipment records and daily work logs.

  • Follows all health and safety protocols and procedures tomaintaina safe sanitary work area.

  • Ensures supplies such asmedical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags, test tubes, etc.are stocked.

  • Willing to cross train in otherappropriate clinicdepartments as needed.
