Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Lab Assistant, you will help our medical team solve mysteries regarding patient health by collecting, preparing, and examining laboratory specimens so they can successfully treat illness and injury.

Every day you will collect, prepare, and analyze patient fluid or tissue samples. You will be expected to maintain impeccable records for labeling and distribution, perform routine quality control checks, keep your lab area clean, and uphold strict patient confidentiality.

ย 

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate strong professionalism, a solid work ethic, deep knowledge of laboratory procedures, and a respectful, collaborative attitude toward your colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect or receive samples of fluids or tissues. Determine if the quality and quantity are sufficient for testing.
  • Use the lab equipment or chemicals to prepare the samples for testing.
  • Perform the required tests on the samples. Keep accurate records. Label the specimens appropriately and send them to other departments as needed.
  • Clean and maintain the lab equipment and the lab area throughout each shift.
  • Run periodic quality control procedures on the equipment, under your supervisorโ€™s guidance.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Be respectful, kind and helpful to your colleagues as we work together to create a productive lab environment.
