Job Summary: Join Pratt & Whitney's Columbus Forge team as a Machinist, where you'll set up and operate manufacturing equipment that produces test specimens for the material testing lab to qualify the metallurgical properties of precision aerospace components used in some of the world's most advanced aircraft engines. In this hands-on role, you'll develop your machining skills, troubleshoot equipment, and work alongside an experienced team in a fast-paced, safety-focused manufacturing environment.
This is a 2nd Shift position: Monday - Thursday, 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM
What You Will Do:
  • Set up and operate machining and production equipment to manufacture test specimens for the material testing lab to qualify the metallurgical properties of aerospace components.
  • Monitor equipment performance, perform minor maintenance and tooling changes, and help keep production running efficiently.
  • Read blueprints, follow work instructions, and use precision measuring tools to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Support equipment changeovers, first article inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with your team while following all safety, quality, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience operating or setting up manufacturing or CNC equipment, including changeovers, minor maintenance, or tooling adjustments.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, perform basic shop math, and use basic measuring tools.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Experience reading blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Technical training in machining, manufacturing, or a related skilled trade.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
