Position: Chemist/Lab Technician Co-op

Primary Location: Cairo, OH
Schedule: Full time hourly

Reports To: Lab/Quality Manager

Compensation: $19 - $22 per hour. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.

About This Role and About You

Chemtrade is seeking a Chemist/Lab Technician Co-op to support our team. This role is ideal for students in their 2nd year or beyond pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. The Co-op will gain valuable hands-on experience in chemical manufacturing, lab analysis, process optimization, safety practices, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis of product sampling based upon customer requirements as scheduled. Utilizing lab instrumentation such as ICP-MS, UV/VIS and Auto titrator
  • Assist with lab testing, equipment calibration, and maintaining lab records
  • Analyze metals contaminants in a Class 10 or Class 1,000 cleanroom
  • Analyze Ultra-Pure samples with an ICP-MS at PPT (Part Per Trillion) and PPQ (Part Per Quadrillion) levels.
  • Perform troubleshooting and scheduled maintenance on instrumentation.
  • Work with other team members including cross-functional personnel toward the solution of concerns and opportunities for improvement by participation in continuous improvement projects and events using Lean Six Sigma tools such as 6S and Kaizen.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Support the site’s safety culture through active participation in safety programs and initiatives
  • Perform sample collection and basic chemical analysis on process streams
  • Support data collection for material balances and chemical usage tracking
  • Participate in investigations of process anomalies or improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with the operations and engineering teams on small-scale process or lab projects
  • Assist with the generation or revision of SOPs, JSAs, and line/equipment labeling

Qualifications

  • Education:  2nd/ 3rd Year Chemistry Student
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0 / 4.0
  • Duration: May 2026 - August 2026
  • Technical Skills:  Proficient in all areas of engineering, computers, and engineering programs as expected from a chemical engineering student. Good organization and communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
