The Urology Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role includes a combination of clinical, administrative, and patient care responsibilities to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient outcomes.

The Medical Assistant is a specifically trained individual who demonstrates expertise in dealing with patients during all aspects of care. Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the Physician or Physician'sdesignee.

Your key responsibilities:

The Urology Medical Assistant supports providers in delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role includes a combination of clinical, administrative, and patient care responsibilities to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the physician with initial patient consultations, routine follow-ups, and emergency visits

  • Prepare patients for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, weight, medications, allergies, and medical/social history

  • Accurately document all patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR), including medications prescribed, samples dispensed, and reported concerns

  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, including urine samples (clean catch and catheterized) and blood draws; follow up on lab results as directed

  • Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy, bladder scans, vaginal swabs, and administration of subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

  • Assist with or perform urinary catheterization, including Foley catheter placement and changes

  • Set up and assist providers during in-office procedures such as cystoscopies, vasectomies, prostate ultrasounds, and other urologic procedures

  • Maintain and stock exam rooms, ensuring proper equipment and supply levels

  • Support triage functions by answering phone calls, documenting patient concerns, and communicating with providers and clinical staff

  • Assist with prescription processing, including sending medications as directed by providers

  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, OSHA standards, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Attend required training sessions, including OSHA/biomedical updates, and apply knowledge in clinical practice

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations andprotect patient confidentiality at all times

  • Communicate effectively with providers, front desk staff, and team members to support coordinated patient care

  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and the ability to remain composedinhigh-pressure situations

  • Maintain attendance, appearance, and conduct in accordance with company policies

Qualifications

  • Excellent attention to detail, good oral and written communications skills

  • Must work well with multiple tasks and changing priorities

  • Travel between multiple sites may be required.

  • Maintain licenses and/or certifications as applicable

  • Experience inurologypreferred

  • 1-3 years' experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
