Job Summary

AFC Urgent Care Stamford is looking for a dedicated, experienced Medical Assistant to join our team. You will provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in a fast-paced outpatient urgent care setting. Because our clinic operates without an on-site manager, we need a self-starter who can manage their own workflow, work independently, and take ownership of their responsibilities. This position works directly with a franchised business location; specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

Schedule & Location

  • Full time: 36–39 hours per week
  • Monday- Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, 12-hour shifts
  • 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with rotating weekends
  • Candidates who live in or near Stamford are strongly preferred — the commute matters when you work 12-hour shifts

What We're Looking For

  • Urgent care or primary care experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy (blood draws), EKGs, and point-of-care testing — required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a strong plus
  • Self-managed and dependable — able to work independently without direct on-site supervision

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call-back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. AMTregistered and AAMA-certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
