Job description

As a Lab Operations and Material Lead, you will be key in optimizing our hardware engineering lab, ensuring smooth material flow, and improving the efficiency of our engineering teams. What You'll Do
  • Coordinate/Perform daily lab operations, including material intake, storage, handling, and distribution
  • Improve visibility and traceability of materials within the lab environment
  • Ensure lab spaces are organized, functional, and optimized for efficiency and establish clear processes for material handling, kitting, and prototype support
  • Maintain lab equipment readiness, organization standards, and workspace utilization
  • Manage end-to-end material flow supporting hardware development (receiving, tracking, staging, and distribution)
  • Build and implement standardized processes to improve efficiency and reliability
  • Develop, maintain, and improve systems for inventory tracking, lab scheduling, and material coordination
  • Develop and track metrics (e.g., turnaround time, inventory accuracy, lab utilization)
  • Partner with engineering, supply chain, and facilities teams to streamline workflows
  • Ensure engineers have timely access to materials, tools, and lab resources
  • Reduce operational friction so engineering teams can focus on development work
  • Support prototype build readiness through effective material and workspace coordination

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, Operations, or Business Administration is preferred. Related Associate's degrees or 5+ years equivalent practical experience in lab operations, materials management, or technical operations environment are also accepted.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts (or to become certified), operate a box truck for local transport of materials and equipment, lift and move items up to 40 pounds regularly, and ability to push or maneuver loads up to 250 pounds with appropriate equipment.
  • Experience handling workflows in a lab, R&D, or hardware-related setting
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and implement structured operational systems, as well as, experience in crafting and managing meaningful metrics, dashboards, and operational reporting using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, global environment and inspire change with a high degree of ownership and accountability

Pay Range
$59,500 - $110,500 per year
Our goal is to pay a market competitive salary focusing near the median of our pay ranges. However, final offers for all positions will be based on several factors such as experience level, education, skills, work location, and internal pay equity.
