We're hiring a detail-oriented Assistant Scientist to join our team. In this entry-level role, you'll support daily laboratory operations by preparing reagents and solutions, managing samples and laboratory supplies, performing quality control (QC) data reviews, and assisting scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks. Your work will help keep our laboratory running efficiently while building valuable hands-on experience. 


Starting Pay: $22.60 per hour, DOE


This position is on-site only in Moscow, Idaho.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Scientist is an entry-level position that serves as the training pathway to becoming an Associate Scientist. In this role, employees begin by learning and performing laboratory support functions while developing the technical skills and experience needed to transition into an Associate Scientist position. 


Essential Duties and Tasks:

  • Maintains all lab supplies (including purchase, receipt, stock, inventory, and disposal)
  • Prepares various reagents and solutions for laboratory use
  • Assists laboratory personnel to enable efficient laboratory operations
  • Performs routine facility maintenance and inspections
  • Cleans laboratory glassware
  • Performs sample custodian duties including tracking, verifying and distribution of samples
  • Performs QC review of data


Additional Duties and Tasks:

  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned



Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a physical, biological or chemistry science required
  • Laboratory coursework required
  • 1-3 years of work experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office


Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Skills in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to interpret procedures, regulations and guidelines 
  • Ability to enter data and work accurately with computers
