Job description

R&D Lab Compounding Technician I

The R&D Lab Compounding Technician I will work individually and alongside others to support our flavor development team. This role will assist in daily lab operations, focusing on sample preparation, routine testing under direct supervision, and developing skills in the laboratory.

Essential Functions
  • Compound flavor samples in accordance with sample requests
  • Prepare and organize lab materials, tools, and equipment
  • Conduct basic lab tests and procedures, including density, refractive index, and flashpoint measurements
  • Accurately record quality control data and maintain lab logs
  • Support lab cleanliness and inventory management
  • Use ERP to adjust inventory for accuracy
  • Additional duties as assigned

Physical Demands

The physical responsibilities described here must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, as well as talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to regularly use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift, push, or pull office and lab products and supplies up to 25 pounds.

Employees may also be required to handle and weigh small ingredient quantities used in batch compounding processes.

The position works in a lab and warehouse setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, and standard lab equipment such as label printers, allergen testing kits, pipettes, scales, and meters. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are typically Monday - Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm (temporarily)

Monday - Thursday, 6:30am - 4:30pm (anticipated future schedule)

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma required, associate's degree in a science-related field required
  • Laboratory or manufacturing experience in a food production environment preferred
