Job Summary:
The Shipping/Materials Specialist provides operational support to ensure; the materials schedule is maintained and communicated; inbound materials comply with documentation and conformity standards; security and accuracy of the inventory; and accurate material issuance and traceability to the end product. In addition, the Shipping/Materials Specialist manages ERP transactions (Job Order, Rework Order, VRMA) and is the content expert for the export compliance process.

- Confirm all inbound materials are supported by the required supplier certifications, labeled and identified correctly to clearly support material traceability and conformability using electronic filing system
- Manage all aspects of shipping logistics, including international shipments ensuring strict compliance with customs regulations, export controls, and international trade laws; accurately prepare complex international documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin
- Ensure conforming materials are clearly identified and segregated and secured in the controlled area that conforms to FAA storage requirements
- Responsible for daily inventory accuracy including the support of periodic physical or cycle count inventories to ensure accounting and operational accuracy
- Support the issuance of materials to ensure the accuracy of the inventory and traceability of all materials to the end product
- Support the control and segregation of non-conforming materials (NCM) and participate in the Material Review Board (MRB) disposition on NCM
- Coordinate Pick up/drop off expedited materials to suppliers
- Manage partners with Logistics to facilitate appropriate compliance, vendor selection and vendor management when using couriers or other shared vendors
- Analyzes shipping data to reduce freight expenditure and improve delivery speed
- Assists with problem resolution in regards to shipping discrepancies and logistics obstacles
- Process ECNs, assist with the creation of job orders, and fulfill job orders
- Serve as internal resource and provide guidance to business units on Export Duties, Valuation, Classification, Country of Origin, Drawback, AES, clearance operations and other topics.
- Manage and update export compliance manual and related standard work; develop other policies and procedures as need to support compliance
Qualifications
Required:
- Education: Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, or a related technical field. Equivalent relevant professional experience will be considered.
- Experience amp; Pathways: 2-3 years shipping/materials experience.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency using ERP/MRP systems (handling job orders, inventory tracking, and systemic movements) and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Logistics amp; International Shipping: Direct experience preparing shipping documentation, navigating logistics obstacles, and coordinating with freight forwarders for domestic and international shipments.
- Licensing amp; Compliance: Possess a valid driver’s license and a valid forklift license (or the ability to quickly obtain a forklift certification upon hire).
- Core Competencies: Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both internal departments and external suppliers.
Preferred:
- Certifications: ASCM/APICS (CPIM, CSCP) or ISM (CPSM) professional designations.
- Experience with International Customs and Domestic trade regulations
Working Conditions
The position is office and warehouse based, however time might be spent on checking work in a quality control lab, dyno test cell or on a production line. The production and dyno environment may be noisy and PPEs may be required. Forklift training will be required.
